The last time Mary O’Connor ran for mayor, she claimed to be unemployed but somehow found $1,600 in cash to make a last-minute deposit in her campaign account. Then two weeks later, she pocketed $1,317.31 calling it a ‘refund of excess contribution.’
State officials want to know who really gave her the $1,600 cash contribution. Was it the guy who owned a Route 35 strip joint or the one who wanted to bring a mental health/drug clinic to a South Amboy neighborhood?
More importantly, voters should ask if our municipal finances can be trusted to a person who claims that she raised $5,545 and spent $7,010 yet still was able to take out a $1,317 refund instead of accounting for the $1,465 deficit!
If Mary O’Connor won’t tell the truth about her own campaign money, how can we trust her with millions of our tax dollars?
Mary O’Connor wants to be mayor in the worst way, and that’s how she’s trying to get elected. O’Connor is attacking the reputation and character of people who work for our city without regard to the truth.
